Movie: The Leap Years
The Story in a few words: Based on the novella Leap of Love, by local author Catherine Lim, the story depicts a love that blossoms between two complete strangers on *gasp* the 29th of February. The review in not that many words: I honestly expected it to be MUCH worse, and the only reason i DID go watch it was because Ridzwan was convinced that it would be good. Which was SO not the case. Although i believe that the story would have been romantic and interesting as a book, I just felt like the story seemed so unbelievable in the movie and I couldn't even get ANY HINT of chemistry between Wong Li Lin and Ananda Everingham (Li- Ann and Jeremy in the move). However, I DO remember shedding like ONE tear or something during the movie, which must have meant that it did touch me A TEENY WEENIE little bit. HAHA.
and for that i shall give it...
2/5 STARS
(just rent it on DVD, but actually that might turn out even worse, you might just get so fucking pissed waiting for the LEAP YEARS to pass by, you will end up fast forwarding/skipping tracks.LOLS)
Movie: 10,000 BC

The story: From the director Roland Emmerich, ("Independence Day,” “The Day After Tomorrow”) comes a sweeping odyssey into a mythical age of prophesies and gods, when spirits rule the land and mighty mammoths shake the earth.
In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait) has found his heart’s passion –Evolet (Camilla Belle). But when a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh leads a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her. As they venture into unknown lands for the first time, the group discovers there are civilizations beyond their own and that mankind’s reach is far greater than they ever knew. At each encounter the group is joined by other tribes who have been attacked by the slave raiders, turning D’Leh’s once-small band into an army.
Driven by destiny, the unlikely warriors must battle prehistoric predators while braving the harshest elements. At their heroic journey’s end, they uncover a lost civilization and learn their ultimate fate lies in an empire beyond imagination, where great pyramids reach into the skies.
Here they will take their stand against a tyrannical god who has brutally enslaved their own. And it is here that D’Leh finally comes to understand that he has been called to save not only Evolet but all of civilization.

The review: Ok, I definitely expected MUCH MORE FROM THIS MOVIE!!! I was hoping for an Apocalypto kinda movie! (and i enjoyed that movie VERY much), so when i watched this, I didn't expect it to turn out to be comedy! On top of this, it wasn't just ME who found it absolutely hilarious (i wasn't a lonesome weirdo OK), practically the WHOLE cinema was laughing super loudly to the MAX!! (except for some smelly man next to Rid. HAHAHA. poor baby said he was going to faint. LOLS)
so this movie deserves a...
3/5 STARS
It was pretty exciting but at the same time I felt disappointed but maybe because i was expecting too much from it.
Movie: Rule #1

(okies guys, im sick of writing the whole story thing, so just go read about it yourselves and i will just give a review!hahahaahaha.)
The review: I found this movie really good and very exciting and scarrrryyyy! OMG, there were times when i thought i couldn't breathe. HURHUR. but obviously i could lar, since i'm happily alive and typing this! HAHA. Well, nothing much to say except go watch it!! (if its even in cinemas anymore. haha. if not, rent the movie when it comes out!)
Anyway, what I find most scary about it, is that its like always on real life situations, which definitely creeps me out more, instead of a haunted house or school or something to that effect you know. I remember Ju-On also scared me in that way because its the whole.. can-be-in-your-bed-OR-shower thing that plays with my mind. HAHA.
Well, so this movie deserves...
4/5 STARS!!!
(go watch it/rent it on dvd if you can't watch it anymore!!)
Movie: Horton (Hears a Who!)
The review: Ooooh! I definitely enjoyed this movie! Decided to watch this with Rid because there didn't seem to be many available choices. HAHA. But it ended with both of us really enjoying ourselves! The movie is interesting, cute, exciting, sweet. AIYA. Everything also have lar and I think that Jim Carrey is just so beyond talented!:)
AND
the movie is definitely a feel good movie because of the happy ending!
the movie gets:
4/5 STARS
(you don't necessarily need to watch this in cinemas though because its not like there are any special effects, so if you don't wanna spend an extra $7/8/9 for movie tickets, just rent it on DVD and i believe it will still be as good!)

Movie: The Orphanage

The Review: Ooh, I remember actually watching a movie with the same title before, and it was in French. So i totally expected this movie to be in English and it was another one of those, okie lets just watch this because it has the best showtime kinda thing. hahaha. BUT BUT!! I found the movie GOOD too!!! lols. It was scarrrryyyy but in a totally different way from Rule #1.
OH yes, i forgot to mention that it is in spanish. AND during my movie, there were some malay guys sitting behind ridzwan and I and they were like imitating the actress speaking spanish the whole time..which was very funny!! (luckily it wasn't annoying!!) And my cinema was totally laughy and noisy to the max, but because it was like cozy and all(cos the cinema is so damn small), it felt like a WHOLE bunch of friends just watched it together. Which made it feel pretty nice!!!

Movie: Vantage Point
The Story: Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) are Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues. In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), an American tourist video taping the event to show his kids. There is also Rex (Sigourney Weaver) an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. We follow each person's perspective of the same 15 minutes before and immediately after the shooting to get to the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt.
The review: I definitely found this movie very good and super dooper exciting!! although i heard that people found the movie annoying because it keeps rewinding back to show 8 different views of the same situatuon/event. However, i feel that each view was so different and revealed so much more that it was just so interesting and fun how the pieces are placed together and everything makes so much sense! On top of that, there's the whole happy ending which makes you feel good!!
Rating: 4/5 STARS
