Movies I've Watched in 2009
NEW MOVIE AND VIDEO REVIEWS BELOW!!!
Changeling: 8/10
Starring: Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich
The first movie that I watched this year, and it was definitely very interesting!:) Watched it with Dallas, Sixiu and Tat. I think Dallas and Sixiu also loved it,
but Tat just felt traumatized after the movie. POOR THING. Haha! Nevertheless, if you didn't catch it in the cinema, rent it on DVD!
Bride Wars: 7/10
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson
Although I did enjoy this movie, I really expected more from it because of all the pictures I had seen of the movie in magazines, before it came out! Don't really think
it's a movie that you need to watch in a cinema. Rent it, make some popcorn and watch it with your best friend. :)
Doubt: 7/10
Starring: Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams
This movie kinda left me 'doubt-FUL'. Haha! Ok, lame I know. I did enjoy the movie, but it left me quite confused and feeling like there had to be more...but there was nothing!
Wouldn't be the kind of movie that I could watch over and over again.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: 10/10
Starring: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett
I absolutely LOVED this movie soooooo very much!!! However, its either a love it or hate it kinda movie because I know my fair share of friends who absolutely
HATED it and found it so long and boring and didn't see the point in the movie. BUTTTTT!!! to me, it was such a sweet, loving, sad, happy and wonderful movie
that deserved all the hype that it got, not just because BRAD PITT was so damn hot in it, but how great an actor he was at every age!If you have NOT watched this movie,
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? Even if you end up hating the movie, I am sure you will fall in love with Brad Pitt! <3.
This movie is definitely one of my
TOP FAVOURITES for 2009!
Slumdog Millionaire: 10/10
Starring: Dev Patel, Freida Pinto
This movie was just absolutely fantastic - that I had to watch it two times! The first time I watched it was before it won the Oscar, so it was a small cinema at Vivo. After winning the award
for Best Picture, I watched it for the second time! And this time, it was a huge theatre, which was packed full. The movie is interesting, sweet and one of the best feel-good movies of the year.
I loved the cinematography, the directing and the music was justtttt fantabulous too! Just like Benjamin Button, this movie definitely deserved all the credit that it got for the movie.
And its another one of my
TOP FAVOURITES!!!!
Oh yes, another thing to add is that if you didn't know, Slumdog Millionaire is based on the book Q&A, and if you haven't read it, you definitely should, it is SO different from the movie, but interesting
and one of those books that keeps you wanting to read ALL THE TIME.
He's Just Not That Into You: 7/10
Starring: A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE that include Justin Long, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore
Was expecting a lot from this movie. It felt too REAL for me. I couldn't relate to some of the characters and I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would! :/
New in Town: 7/10
Starring: Renée Zellweger
This was one of those movies that I didn't really want to watch, but there was nothing else to watch so we had to watch it. Haha. One night after dinner, decided to go to VivoCity
to watch this movie with my parents, godma and Dallas. And it turned out to be really nice! Wasn't as funny as her usual movies and the storyline is pretty predictable,
but it was funny anyway and a feel-good movie.
Valkyrie: 7/10
Starring: Tom Cruise
Rid tried to persuade me to watch this for the longest time, and when we FINALLY watched it, I loved it! It was very exciting and made me feel very nervous! Haha. But I think
in general, I usually enjoy any movie with Nazi's in it. (E.g. The Sound of Music - HAHA!)
Push: 3/10 (I hated it!)
Starring: Camilla Belle, Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans
I didn't like this movie at all! :( Wasn't too sure about watching it, but I usually like movies with Dakota Fanning in it, so decided to give it a try!
However, it was just so lame and cheesy! I really hated the chinese people in the movie who could open their eyes REALLY big and scream. They were seriously like 0_0!!!!
But I guess they were the best part of the movie. Haha. So yes, the movie is THAT bad!
Coming Soon: 6/10
Starring: Some Thai People
The movie was pretty lame, but at the same time, I did enjoy myself watching it 'cos it was one of those SCREAM!!!! and then LAUGHHHHH!!! kinda scary movies.
The Unborn: 3/10
Starring: Some lousy B-grade actors
Lousy script, lousy storyline, and HORRENDOUS acting! What more do I need to say?
Confessions of a Shopaholic: 7.5/10
Starring: Isla Fisher
Waited quite a while before watching this movie because I read quite a lot of bad reviews about it! Many critics said that
her character was stupid and predictable. But as a TRUE shopaholic myself, I liked it! I read the book a while back, so I can't remember how it compares to the book,
but I did think it was fun and I loved all her clothes and shoes! :) Actually, I didn't like her outfits in the show, but i DID like the shoes and clothes that were AROUND the scene...hahaha.
Overall a nice, funny and cute movie. Not FANTASTIC, but still very enjoyable! :)
Fast and Furious 4: 5/10
Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker
I absolutely loved the first Fast and Furious, 2nd one was OK, 3rd was pretty lame...BUT I was really expecting more from this!!! Especially because it was Vin Diesel again!
But I have to say, this movie was a big disappointment for me! The car scenes seemed few and weren't as...great as before? And sad to say, but there were moments where
I really thought I would fall asleep.
17 Again: 7/10
Starring: Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Michelle Trachtenberg
Before watching this movie, I always thought Zac Efron was kinda cute, but not my type at all? But after watching it...WOO! He looked HOT in it man. Haha.
Apart from how good he looked in the movie (and he did look very good!), 17 Again was funny, cute and interesting. But it's also another movie that can just be
watched on DVD. So don't sweat it if you missed it! :)
VIDEO REVIEWS
Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging: 8/10
Starring: Georgia Groome, Eleanor Tomlinson, Aaron Johnson
This movie is so very very nice!!! :) I absolutely LOVED it! It was cute and so sweet and funny! And BEST OF ALL! The boys were SO very very cute! I could have
just melted!!! I didn't bother to catch it in the cinema, but saw it at VideoEzy so decided to rent it on DVD and watch it with my Godma and Mummy, and we all laughed our way through
and felt it was so great after! Am going to get it on DVD after this to keep!
Go rent it now!!!A great movie for a girly girls sleepover!
P.S. I just googled Aaron Johnson and found out that he's younger than me. Born in 1990. DAMN! Haha.
P.P.S If you do google him, just note that the pictures there don't do him justice at all! You HAVE to watch the movie to see!
P.P.P.S Warning: His voice is pretty lame though. Haha.
Ok, just one more thing! I like his botak brother too! HAHA.
